Drug Prevention Programs: of the Effectiveness of Project ALERT on Smoking Saudi students in Saudi Arabia. IMPLEMENTING DRUG PREVENTION PROGRAM IN Saudi Arabia.
Research Proposal: Each student in the course will independently develop a research proposal. As the semester progresses, each student will be conducting library research meant to help develop and organize a literature review of no less than 10 scholarly sources, no more than 10 years old. The majority of these sources should be from journals in the field. It is the responsibility of the student to identify an issue or problem worth further research, which is usually identified by reading widely in one?s field. Once an issue of interest is identified, the student can begin compiling and reviewing articles (some of which will be used for other course assignments). A research proposal typically has three chapters or sections as this will not be a complete or thorough proposal meant to be defensible in a traditional master?s or Ph.D. proposal defense, rather, this project is intended to help students develop the skills and the foundation to further develop their work to meet these -goals. The three components of a research proposal that we are focusing on are as follows:
? Introduction ? This section introduces the issue or problem to be studied, highlighting the need for more information.
The need for this study is because Project ALERTT is done in the United States and most studies found it effective while others found it not effective.
However, no research done before about PROJECT ALERT in SAUDI ARABIA COUNTRY and since I am from there I want to try this PROJECT ALERT in my country and see the results. However, Project ALERT is talking about alcohol, cigarette, and marijuana and for some reasons I WILL FOCUS ON CIGARETTE USE in my proposal THAT IS BECAUSE THE STUDENTS IN SAUDI ARABIA DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL OR USE MARIJUANA. THEY ONLY SMOKE AND I WANT TO TRY THIS PROJECT ALERT TO ONLY SEE IF I CAN PREVENT THEM FROM SMOKING CIGARETTES by TRY THIS PROJECT ALERT SINCE IT MENTIONS IN SOME JOURNAL ARTICLES THAT IT PREVENT OR REDUCE SMOKING STUDENTS IN THE U.S.*
*ONE IMPORTANT THING: I WANT YOU TO FOCUS ON IMPLEMENTING PROJECT ALERT IN SAUDI ARABIA TO PREVENT SMOKING CIGARETTE. TAHT IS BECAUSE THE STUDENTS IN SAUDI ARABIA DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL OR USE MARIJUANA. The alcohol and marijuana are illegal and forbidden. THEY ONLY SMOKE AND I WANT TO TRY THIS PROJECT ALERT TO ONLY SEE IF I CAN PREVENT THEM FROM SMOKING CIGARETTES.
(YOU HAVE TO READ MUCH ABOUT THIS PROJECT ALERT TO TOTALLY UNDERSTAND IT)
? Literature Review ? This section organizes and summarizes the literature related to the chosen issue or problem. In this section, the student should both synthesize and summarize the relevant literature related to the issue or problem (PROJECT ALERT IN THE UNITED STATES / DEFINE THE PROJECT ALERT FIRST AND THEN mentioned articles support PROJECT ALERT in American schools and others said that PROJECT ALERT is not effective in school. In addition, talk about the results or findings of this project ALERT in schools and LIST some advantage and disadvantages of it). Using section headings and good transitions to develop the argument about the necessity of this study are helpful in this section.
NOTE: In the literature review you can talk about alcohol, cigarette, marijuana, and other illicit mentioned in that project ALERT Some journals talk about alcohol and marijuana in PROJECT ALERT such articles you should not include. ONLY JOURNALS TALK ABOUT ALCOHOL, MARIJUANA AND CIGARETTE AS WELL SOULD INCLUDED, BUT by the end of the literature review you will mention that I will focus only on the effectiveness of PROJECT ALERT IN PREVENTING CIGARETTE USE AMONG SAUDI SCHOOL-AGED YOUTH (The Statement of Purpose).
? Methodology and Methods ? This section articulates the methodology chosen to study the issue or problem, developing an argument as to why this needs to be studied in the way the researcher is proposing. This is where the student articulates the research questions this particular study seeks to explore. Further, the student articulates the specific methods (YOU WILL NOTICE THE METHODS USED IN SOME ARTICLES ABOUT PROJECT ALERT SUCH AS PRETEST AND POST TESTS BUT YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN INDETAILS HOW AND WHYH AND MENTION SPECIFIC NUMBER OF PARTICIPANT AND SPECIFIC SCHOOL IN SAUDI ARABIA, how they will be used, number of participants if relevant, and any other pertinent information. YOU CAN ALSO PICK ONE OF THE METHODS MENTION IN ANY ONE OF THE ARTICLES YOU WILL READ ABOUT PROJECT ALERT.
This section should also include DATA COLLECTION, DATA ANALYSIS, and ETHICAL CONSIDERATION.
