Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care Task – 1 Case Scenario You are about to attend a professional conference on personal development, and you have been asked to ponder on the contribution of personal values and principles to work in health and social care. 1. Reflect on your practice as a health care professional: Compare personal values such as beliefs and preferences and principles like equal right, diversity and confidentiality with the principles of support for working in health and social care. Asses how values like culture and your own belief affect service users and others in health and social care settings (AC 1.1, 1.2) 2. Discuss how new developments and changes to personal values can impact on work in health and social care (AC 1.3) TASK 2: Portfolio: Part 1 Activity 1: Honey and Mumford learning style Questionnaire Activity 2: SWOT You need to complete activity 1 and 2 within the classroom and based on the activities you need to develop the portfolio with answering following questions; 1. Assess current skills ability and learning style based on your SWOT analysis and Learning Style Questionnaire (AC 2.1) Activity 1: Honey and Mumford Reflection In the classroom you will complete a Honey and Mumford Learning Style Questionnaire. You will be taught about models of reflection and write and submit a reflective account of your experience, during the Honey and Mumford exercise, using the reflective template in the portfolio. *You must complete the Honey and Mumford Questionnaire before you can complete this task. Activity 2: SWOT In this task you will be taught about how to use SWOT methodology to identify your strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities for continued personal and professional development. You need to create and submit your personal S.W.O.T. with your identified strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities as an appendix at the end of your portfolio. 2. Produce a holistic Personal development plan with short medium-and long-term goals (AC2.2). Note: For this task you will learn about how goal setting and SMART action planning can support your continued professional development. You will prepare your own individual development plan with 1 personal goal and 2 professional goals for your continued development as a health and social care practitioner. You will set short, medium and long term targets for your goals which you will monitor, progress and review during the unit. Portfolio: Part – 2 Task 3 and 4 (Portfolio part 2) need to submit in the second term which is Term 2- January 2017. You will notify the deadline in due course. TASK 3: There are 2 parts to this task. Task 3 part one: Partnership working. Task 3 Part two: Teamwork. Task 3 part one: Partnership working: 1. Explain the nature of different professional relationships in health and social care contexts. (3.1) 2. Evaluate personal effectiveness in promoting and supporting the rights of the individual. (3.2) 3. Discuss ways to resolve issues encountered in professional relationships. (3.3) Task 3 Part two: Teamwork 1. Evaluate the effectiveness of personal contributions when working with others in health and social care practice. (4.1) 2. Explain how the limits of own role impacts on work with others (4.2) 3. Analyse own role in minimizing barriers to effective teamwork in health and social care practice. (4.3) 4. Discuss how to improve personal contributions to the collective effectiveness of a team. (4.4) To achieve M1 will be evidenced by your approach of using team building theories to evaluate own contribution and the effectiveness for team development. Task 3 part one and two: Working on your own you need to submit a portfolio answering task 3 part one and two. Make sure to attach a hard copy of this submission into your hardcopy folder, where you submit all documents and evidence from 200 hours work experience. Use your own experience when you answer the questions in portfolio. TASK 4: There is one part to this task. My Updated Development Plan. This task is designed so that you can fulfill the following criteria: 1. Monitor your progress against the plan according to the requirements of a health and social care practitioner and revise your plan as required (AC-2.3). 2. Provide an evaluation of the effectiveness of your development plan to your own development as a health and social care practitioner (AC-2.4). As you have been monitoring and reviewing your development plan throughout this unit you submit a revised and updated version of one of your professional goals. You also submit a short reflection on self-awareness and an evaluation of your updated plan and what you have learnt by answering 2 question
