Maximum of 2000 words.
1- a 100 word abstract at the top of the page
2- explore the ‘spirit’ of An Clochán or Dungloe as a place. As writing the paper please remember that place is not a mere spatial location but a ‘special ensemble’; it has history and meaning. Place incarnates the experiences and aspirations of a people. – this should be based on critical reading of the book 3- Characterise the spirit of the place and describe it (e.g., familism, mental illness, strict religiously, isolated etc.). you need to provide evidence and examples from the book Saints, Scholars, and Schizophrenics: Mental Illness in Rural Ireland
4- apply one concept or insight from geographer Yi-Fu Tuan’s Space and Place: The Perspective of Experience to illuminate the place world of Dungloe you should talk briefly about this and try to apply one of the concepts for example (space and place, space and the body, space and language, space and experience)
5- A model graph (drawing), use this site for some tips and ideas on how to develop conceptual graphic models, please visit: http://kuchka.org/graphic-language/graphic-language-part-one-basic-steps-creating-graphic-models-ideas-mit-and-comic and I will upload an extra file for helpful tips on this. It is preferred to use symbols given in the file uploaded. This can be computerised or scanned as hand drawing if it is clear. I would love the same writer to do this order since he/she already have read the books
Nancy Scheper-Hughes’ Saints, Scholars, and Schizophrenics: Mental Illness in Rural Ireland
Yi-Fu Tuan’s Space and Place: The Perspective of Experience to illuminate the place world of Dungloe.
Please use only these two books and site them
